Creating a
National Household Water Assistance Program

The Community Task Force for Water Equity (CTF), convened in April 2022 by the CWSC, in partnership with DigDeep, has released recommendations for the development of a
permanent National Household Water Assistance Program.

The COVID-19 pandemic prompted the launch of the first-ever Federal-level assistance program for water. But, the Low-Income Household Water Assistance Program (LIHWAP) is only a short-term, emergency program with limited funding.

To ensure low-income households stay connected, the Community Task Force for Water Equity developed recommendations for how to develop a permanent National Household Water Assistance Program (NHWAP). Developed by experts from community-based organizations, these recommendations will protect households, build communities, and support the utilities to provide clean, safe
drinking water and sanitation to all.

Read the recommendations. Sign on and support. Request a meeting to discuss.
